Journeys of Aokuma
Operation: Half Price Books
Greetings... the name's Aqua Lion, you probably already knew that. And
if you came here from Aqua's
Den, you likely know I can get a tad obsessive... about very strange
things, no less... but not all of my obsessions result in mass quantities
of fanfiction. Some result in long car trips and the whole family wanting
to kill me. Like the memorable time I dragged mom all over southwest Ohio
looking for the MechWarrior 3 expansion pack. Or the several states we
ended up in looking for a Mega Blocks set... ANYway, the difference between
then and now is that NOW I have a digital camera. One that actually works.
So, the latest crusade happens to involve that wonderful store known as
Half
Price Books. In my quest to complete the Battletech series, and getting
nothing but the same 10 or so books at 'normal' bookstores, I dragged the
parental unit off to a Half Price Books store in Cincinnati.
My life would never be the same. And, since every Half Price Books store
has different books, it became necessary to run all over Cincy to all of
the different stores. And, before long, to Columbus. And, soon enough,
one fine Spring Break, I convinced the parental unit that we had to go
up to Cleveland.
This was an overnight trip, so my teddy bear (YES, I sleep with a teddy
bear! Got a problem with that?) Aokuma came along for the ride. For some
odd reason, I got the brilliant idea of taking along said digital camera,
and taking a picture of him in front of every store. Just for the heck
of it. And why not put it on a website so people can confirm, again, how
nutty Aqua is?
My goal is to visit every Half Price Books store in the United States,
at least once. And Aokuma is coming along for the ride.
Oh, by the way. Since everyone who knows his name asks: Aokuma translates
to 'blue bear,' not exactly the most original of names, but I'm not the
one who came up with it, I just liked the suggestion and took it. ^_^ (I
also don't think it's grammatically correct, but oh well.)
